I've used the xReal Air on a plane. The Air has 1080p screens for each eye, so it's pretty much the worst possible option that kind of works. I would pay 2x what I paid for the Air (~$400) in a heartbeat for a 4k option to have when I travel. But for the kind of price Apple is talking about it would have to be good enough to beat my main workstation setup, not just be better than a tiny laptop screen for travel. And I agree with TFA that it's very unlikely to meet that higher bar.
