I love the detail in these writeups! I've been curious about the long term changes in performance, both positive (from toolchain and optimizer improvements) and negative (from Spectre / Meltdown and friends). Chips and Cheese did a similar writeup about Sandy Bridge's AMD contemporary, Bulldozer. I have a Bulldozer, so I've done some testing with interesting results. I'd love to find someone who has a Core i7 2600(K) / 2700(K) to do the corresponding tests on Sandy Bridge. Anyone?
