PayPal Launches U.S. Dollar Stablecoin
- marban 3y ago"PayPal USD is issued by Paxos Trust Company, a fully licensed limited purpose trust company subject to regulatory oversight by the New York State Department of Financial Services. In June 2022, PayPal was issued a BitLicense by NYDFS after previously obtaining a conditional BitLicense." Can we throw some smoke in this press release? Yes
- latchkey 3y agoAs much as I dislike Paypal as a company, for those of us who support crypto, I do feel that it needs more rails for consumers. They have been fairly quietly supporting crypto for a long time now. Their focus on Bitcoin and ETH and not an endless stream of shitcoins, is quite nice. update: CLG has a good thread on this: https://twitter.com/ChainLinkGod/status/1688591337090875392 https://twitter.com/ChainLinkGod/status/1688591337090875392
- hsjqllzlfkf 3y agoWhat is the advantage of this versus just keeping people's balances in a database?
- latchkey 3y agoThat is exactly what PayPal does.
- hsjqllzlfkf 3y agoWhy do you call it "crypto" then ?
- latchkey 3y agoYou can sell/buy a balance in a database on PayPal. Once you transfer off their database and into your own wallet, it is crypto. Are you being obtuse for a reason?
- hsjqllzlfkf 3y agoLet me see... You've been here since Oct 2009, let's call it 14 years. You have 12k karma. So that's 850 karma per year. Isn't that quite low? Do you think that maybe what you have to say is generally quite low value or quality?
- latchkey 3y agoWeird response to ad hominem my karma, so let me explain something to you since you're new here. It is usage over time. For all those years, I didn't use the site, then I got all that karma, in one month of comments. No way to analyze that though, is there.
