Love this! I published a similar one last month:
https://buttondown.email/stack https://buttondown.email/stack
---
A couple notes on where I differ/concur from OP:
1. ahrefs is absolutely worth its price in gold.
2. IMHO intercom is overpriced relative to competitors depending on how you use it, with the caveat that I hate in-app messaging widgets and consider them a blight on the modern web. (HelpScout is my preferred app.)
3. I deeply miss my Free AWS Credits Era.
- airpoint 3y agoThanks for sharing. What does the following refer to in the GitHub Actions explainer: > …it's free thanks to a generous friends and family plan
- jmduke 3y agoA friend of mine who was at one point a GH employee gave me a (lifetime? it was around four years ago) F&F discount that IIRC amounts to $200/mo free across all SKUs.
- rambambram 3y ago> Auth: I know it's increasingly trendy to outsource auth to a paid vendor but I'm not a fan of the lock-in and I like having full control over the experience. Amen. I thought I was alone in this.
- ikomrad 3y agoYou are not alone! I’m an ardent self-hoster.
- nicbou 3y agoWhat do you gain from Ahrefs? I know what it does, and have a free account there, but I don't actually use it.
- jmduke 3y agoI use very little of the outbound/link-building things, but find the alerting on broken content and notifications of which specific pillar pages are hitting traction very actionable and useful.
