It's interesting that the check-in agent was the one that attached the tag. I recently flew Melbourne to Frankfurt, and there was no interaction with staff at all during check-in and going through security, it was all DIY tagging and putting it on the conveyor. Similar story coming back via Heathrow airport. Wonder if it's just Australia and Europe automating it and whether it actually helps lower lost bag numbers.
