I installed awscli and tried the command from the article
mkdir places/
aws s3 cp --recursive 's3://overturemaps-us-west-2/release/2023-07-26-alpha.0/theme=places/' places/
but it gave me:
fatal error: Unable to locate credentials

mkdir overturemaps/
aws s3 cp --region us-west-2 --no-sign-request --recursive s3://overturemaps-us-west-2/release/2023-07-26-alpha.0/ overturemaps/
This will download all of the overture maps data, but to me that is all the better :)
