- ilrwbwrkhv 3y agoWell yes and no. While it is true that purity for the sake of it is useless, games like D&D have a human element which is very important. There is a reason why the Dungeon Master is human. Zooming out a bit, I find a lot of this momentum towards replacing our work with computer output is a bit sad. We should instead focus those resources on things like finding a cure for cancer. Things which were not possible to do before. In other cases like art and writing, the work is half of the fun and that is why there is a "controversy".
- Frummy 3y agoThe human wasnt replaced, its more human to use the tools available to you than to purposefully stay in the past. True artists push the limit, adopting new tools is part of that. “We should instead focus on curing cancer” Oh please
- eternityforest 3y agoI can understand why people are upset, because there's definitely a sense that the DM will be an AI next. Look how karaoke took over from filk. How tabletop games are also phone scroll circles. How some events have become more like just regular drinking parties than anything else...
- unaindz 3y agoThere are already games where the DM is an AI, doesn't seem to stop anyone from playing with a human DM. Though I still don't see what that has to do with using an AI tool to improve your drawing skill/speed.
