- keepamovin 3y agoI dunno, sounds pretty much like advertising tech. Why don't you (deserved) ban Google or Facebook while you're at it? edit because post is flagged I can't reply your descendent! :..<: cool. what do you think is the worst thing about ad tech? what kind of society can we have without it do you think? how will the economy work? :)
- smoldesu 3y agoI do. I watch YouTube videos through yt-dlp and haven't touched Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp for as long as I've lived. Edit 1: > what do you think is the worst thing about ad tech? For all intents and purposes, the simple fact that I have to encounter advertisement is the worst part. If you made me watch YouTube with advertising enabled I would stop using it. You seem to be convinced I'm one of those "ads will ruin society" shmucks, but I'm not. Ads annoy and trouble me, so I fight for my right to avoid them. Whatever you do with your time/money is up to you, but watching ads is a vehement waste of my life energy. > what kind of society can we have without it do you think? An extremely authoritarian one, probably. > how will the economy work? :) Something similar to how it does now, with less hucksters trying to sell software that is 2 free libraries glued together. The entire software service industry (advertising included) is a bubble - we'll cross this bridge when the music stops.
