- NoZebra120vClip 3y agoGood article with facts, but they don't really connect the dots for us: UV radiation is a primary mechanism for odor elimination, which is accomplished by killing the bacteria that cause it. So it's quite tricky, if not impossible, to mitigate the harm of faded colors while still keeping the benefits of sanitization and odor elimination! Unfortunately, many people are apartment tenants, or subject to an HOA, and prohibited from hanging laundry outdoors where it can be seen. I mean, I can see the reason for this, because it can be unsightly, but perhaps the pendulum will swing back toward reducing carbon footprints, and be more permissive about this. For now I've got to use those commercial dryers.
