Prison living costs rule scrapped for wrongly convicted
- darkclouds 3y agohttps://archive.is/okvsD#selection-935.0-935.114 https://archive.is/okvsD#selection-935.0-935.114 The Govt still cant bring itself to admit it has a problem. Is that the subconcious bias of those involved on display?
- fatfingerd 3y agoI hope the government hasn't been reimbursing travel expenses without first confirming there are no excess prison accommodations going to waste. A review is probably necessary to get hotel costs back.
- darkclouds 3y agoThere are certainly mental health beds going to waste. Seen it first hand. Who needs a court and jury when mental health is a straight to jail!
- greatgib 3y agoMr Malkinson was originally sentenced with a seven-year minimum term but was held for much longer because he refused to admit to a crime he knew he did not commit. This is happening in all countries, but it is the worse denying of real justice in my opinion. Having to plead guilty just to have a reduced sentenced when you know you did nothing but no one believes you.
- Nasrudith 3y agoA real sinister way to bury problems of wrongful convictions as well. About what we should expect from plea bargins as a way to punish the guilty less while encouraging punishing the innocent more.
