So will this one finally have USB-C charging port, allowing me to buy the phone without retrofitting my home/car/office/parents home with special charging cables just so I can charge my potential phone the same way I charge my current one?
- bouke 3y agoYes, this one might have a charging port that will require me to retrofit my home/car/office/parents home with special charging cables just so I can charge my potential phone in the same locations as my current one.
- quitit 3y agoIf it means that much to you, why wouldn't you just buy a phone that has a USB-C port? Are there no options in the smartphone market?
- MaxikCZ 3y agoMy only phone for past 5+ years has always had USB-C port. The fact iPhones were different was the major reason I wasn't considering buying them.
- wodenokoto 3y agoI'm all for being annoyed at iPhones having special connectors, but is plugging in a $10 lightning to usb in a usb port really "retrofitting"?
- MaxikCZ 3y agoits not about $10 or about one-time chore. It's about having to always check if the cable you pulled up is this one or the other, where to place the adapter if I need to use the C, and so on. Having just C everywhere is convenient not because it's everywhere, but because there's nothing else.
- wodenokoto 3y agoAnd having to check the cable means you have now retrofitted your car?
- alasarmas 3y agoAnd will we finally see a transfer rate higher than USB 2’s 480 Mbps? If we got 5 Gbps, I would finally be able to do local backups easily and effectively…
- ab_testing 3y agoYou will get 480 Mbps for the regular iPhone model. If you want to get the higher transfer rates afforded by USB-C, you have to upgrade to the pro model. https://9to5mac.com/2023/02/28/usb-c-iphone-speeds/#:~:text=This%20means%20data%20transfer%20speeds,Pro%20and%20non%2DPro%20models https://9to5mac.com/2023/02/28/usb-c-iphone-speeds/#:~:text=....
