This is cool. I thought the article would be about testing for life signs in a dying patient by hand squeezing. Nevertheless, it's a great idea, and as they say, "noninvasive".
I approached my PCP once about my grip. I was concerned that my grip was too strong, actually, because I spent all my time with my right hand curled around the mouse, and I was feeling tingles and spasms, and if I dared attempt to lift anything heavy, my hands would cramp up and I'd drop the thing. So, it wasn't a weak grip, per se. But that's all he knew to test me for, and he ran a few tests and said I was stronger than he was, and not to worry about it.
Nevertheless, I later procured a referral to physical therapy, and we went over multiple types of exercises and procedures that could help regain flexibility in my hands, and reduce the onset of pain. I still pratice some of them today, so it was a fairly beneficial referral and knowledgeable physical therapist.
