The sex coach is killing intimacy
- totetsu 3y ago> A professional cuddle is safe and certified, but also explicitly non-sexual. For those who want more, who desire the intimacy but not the risks or vulnerability or self-doubt of a sexual relationship, there’s a whole new category of sex therapist, one who will not only discuss the physical act of love, but actually do it with you — at least sometimes, at least for a while. Their patients are people who struggle with physical intimacy, perhaps due to disability, military injury or gender transition. They call themselves “surrogate partners”. So the author starts by saying there is a service being provided to people with understandably a real need, like a disability, and then goes on to criticize the whole things as if just regular people all have become risk adverse and are making up partner as a paid service to avoid dating. I don’t think they established the thing they are critical of actually is happening.

I feel like therapy could be successful, and more productive, if clients with sexual dysfunction, intimacy issues, loneliness, etc. could be led to find contentment and joy in their life circumstances, rather than attempting to fill it up with prostitution (yeah, methinks the author doth protest too much.)
