I've spent most of my schooling and career using Vim in one form or another. It's as close to an instrument that I don't even need to think about using and can just follow muscle memory as anything I've ever worked with. It's perhaps my most important tool as an engineer. So much of its design is clear as the brainchild of Bram, so hearing this makes me sad. I hope Bram knew how many lives he touched.
