This has been the normal report we've received since the Nvidia 200 days (a decade and a half now).
At this point, we can assume as much. It'll be news when they announce that they are aiming to compete at the high end.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoThe 7900 and 6900 series are high end. The implication is that RDNA4 will be more like the 5000 series or the old 300 series, or the old Nvidia 750 TI: a new mid range die only.
- wkat4242 3y agoThey are high end but do they really compete with Nvidia's high end like the 4090?
- brucethemoose2 3y agoThey are within spitting distance, and thats fine. The 7900 series in particular is priced much more sanely than the 4090 or 4080. In fact, AMD is missing a mid range die now, which is kinda odd.
- wkat4242 3y agoI thought AMD was still far behind on the raytracing front, especially if you factor in DLSS as well. Since cyberpunk came out with their all-raytraced option I'm really glad I have a 4090 because it really looks amazing. I believe raytracing really is the way forward.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoFSR2 would be fine in 2077. The 7900 series is indeed slower at raytracing, but I'm not sure if it can handle 2077. DLSS is nothing short of a miracle, but I am kind of turned off by it because its closed source, not "universal" like FSR1, and not implemented in most games, especially indie games.
