I recently fell into a cargobike youtube blackhole.
The bike in the article is back cargo bike. There are two other types, a front cargo bike [1] and cycle trucks [2], a mini version of cargo bikes that I feel is more practical.
Cargo e-bikes can a good car replacement for rides that are nearby your house, like ~10-ish miles one-way; this is the sort of distance where range and effort anxiety wouldn't even kick in (most bike batteries have at least have ~25 mile battery range), but still allow you to do most of the chores you would otherwise do in a car.
I wish this indiegogo campaign [3] of a drop-in system for converting normal non-electric non-cargo bikes into electric cycle trucks would have succeeded, but it didn't match it goals and now even the website is expired; but the idea is nice.

- illwrks 3y agoI've also fallen into the rabbit hole in the past few weeks. I'm looking at a rear hub motor for my current bicycle for when I'm going into the office. The setup is so simple once you understand the basics... it's got me thinking I could build an electric motorcycle in the future.
