At my first job out of university, we were deploying applications on Solaris servers. I had been using emacs as a text editor, and these servers only had vim installed. I mentioned installing emacs to my manager, and he said that learning vim would be a "feather in my cap." I took him up on that advice, which was sage wisdom. I spent a lot of my career using various forks of vim as my primary editor, and still use it when I need to edit a file. Thanks Bram! This world will miss you.
