I’m concerned about this ideas about weakness and helplessness. I mean, if we look at history, we can see that these “resourceful” people were often malnourished and victims of natural calamities, although we have a survivor bias as we can only see those who were lucky enough to survive. I wonder if this romanization of struggle is related to the statistic where 6 percent of Americans believe they can defeat a bear with their bare hands.
