MDFourier has been an occasional discussion topic in the (video game) emulation community for a few years now. Analyses showing in fine scientific detail how accurately different implementations are matching original hardware. In that area, it has been considered somewhat of a gold standard in audio comparison testing. MDFourier deserves to be far better known, and widely used. However, past forum discussions also highlighted that the audio(phile) community does include some cynical elements whose vested interests and self-built narratives would rather not be exposed to hard science.
