I have an OT question for those familiar with such software. I am interested in characterizing the notes of a particular musical instrument. Meaning, I want to provide it a recording of a single note played once, and it should tell me the base frequency of the note. Then repeat for every note. The goal is to understand how different build dimensions and materials for the instrument effect the frequencies of the notes. Obviously, I could just do a fourier transform on each recording. But I am wondering if there are specialized libraries or software that make this easier, or do other interesting calculations or visualizations that are currently in my unknown unknowns.
