The article doesn't specify how much time has passed, but it must not have been much (days, weeks, maybe months) there is something perverse in any mechanism that allows 800% grow of a debt in a short time. BTW, the message seems to me (and this probably show how old I am) like a perfect example of the phishing "Please click here to learn more" kind that we were taught to ignore and NOT reply to.
