I think that "extractivization" may be a more descriptive possibility. I.e. we are describing a phenomenon whereby a platform is changed from a strategy of increasing its user base to one of extracting value from its userbase. Consequently, from a user perspective, this leads to the counterintuitive idea that you probably shouldn't trust any platform who doesn't explain how they're making money off of you.
