Just saw another unconfirmed replication here:

Found their process really fascinating, apparently they create L-99 powder, sort it by meissner effect, then press the "high meissner effect" powder together
- soligern 3y agoInteresting. So this doesn’t exhibit flux pinning then.
- baq 3y agoPeople called the Soviet anime lesbian kitchen chemist a LARP but this is either Nobel or a fraud, personally very heavily leaning towards fraud.
- pineconewarrior 3y agoI tried searching this strange string of nouns but was met with some strange results. What are you referencing?

- gcr 3y agoIris Alexandra studies plants in Russia, and also dabbles in chemistry from her (home?) lab. Over this past weekend, she's been working on replicating the LK-99 results herself, heaping a bunch of lighthearted scorn in the process in typical Soviet style. It's highly entertaining, so she's gotten herself a bit of a following online. People are badmouthing her in part because she's openly plural and trans and lesbian and a catgirl and she has Opinions On The Internet, so her bullies question her credibility based on the stereotype. She also wears her Soviet culture on her sleeve, so folks incorrectly think that being a communist means she supports what Putin is doing in Ukraine, despite her statements. (Keep in mind that being so openly LGBTQ+ isn't exactly smiled upon by the Russian state at the moment...)

- jackmott42 3y agoDo we have russian anime lesbians doing superconductor chemistry in 2023? I'm here for it.

- JRKrause 3y agoTo be clear, they are not sorting it by superconductivity. Their claim is that they are sorting it by the Meissner effect. More likely they are sorting it by it's exhibited diamagnetism.
- cthalupa 3y agoThe covering over the magnet is almost certainly to hide the array of electromagnets underneath. You can find a variety of electromagnet toys that will do this exact thing.
- sigmar 3y ago100%. Weird 3d-printed stand is a big tell. Plus the close up on the pellet that seems painted to be black. Wish people would be more skeptical of spreading this type of stuff from newly created accounts
- heliophobicdude 3y agoI thought for a second you were referring to the original post with the edit

- aqme28 3y agoThat looks and acts like pyrolitic graphite over a magnet array. If that institute weren’t also pseudonymous I’d maybe believe them a little more.
