From my experience, if you come from America (specially Latin and Central) it's quite easy to feel great because the city is some sort developed and it's safe. However, at the time that you travel across Germany or in more developed capitals it's starts to feel bad due to the high taxes and a perceived low return in terms of services in comparison with those places.
