- johnnyanmac 3y agoConsoles purposefully add a big barrier for indies, so that doesn't help. I'm sure many devs would love to support console but lack the resources. I can't think of a single AAA/AA game that is PC exclusive.
- irrational 3y agoWell, I don’t own a console, just a Mac. There are a number of games on Steam I’d like to play, but they are PC only. Perhaps they are also available on consoles, but I wouldn’t know.
- account42 3y agoA Mac is a PC.
- irrational 3y agoOnly if you are being pedantic. Everyone else knows PC means a computer running Windows OS.
- account42 3y agoNope. Apple's marketing does not define these terms.
- ranger207 3y agoMacs have many of the same problems as consoles with exclusive SDKs and custom graphics stacks (Metal) but without the benefit of the console manufacturer working to make it (relatively) easy to make and sell games on their platform.
- wiseowise 3y agoSteam Deck.
- hospitalJail 3y agoMake the jump buddy. I got a gaming laptop back in 2022 for $550. Literally endless free games, and for $20 a year, you can get 4 old GOTY games from steam during a sale. Not to mention endless mods. PC gaming is infinite entertainment.
- irrational 3y agoBut, then I’d have to use Windows. I’m not that desperate to play these games.
- hospitalJail 3y agoI don't use Windows. I hate Microsoft. I use Linux (Fedora). I even have a video card working.
- npteljes 3y agoReally depends on the game. Aside from my multiplayer shooters, I played all my games on Linux. And these shooters would work too, if not for the pesky anti-cheats. If you'd like, you can check if the Steam game would work on Linux with this tool: https://www.protondb.com/app/1174180 https://www.protondb.com/app/1174180 I'm personally using Debian testing with KDE, but as long as Steam works, you should be fine. Zorin is also a nice out of the box experience.
