Ask HN: Has anyone noticed Hacker News changed its logo to SVG format?
The link to the Hackernews logo is here:

It used to be a GIF file. I really like when you zoom in it doesn't get all distorted since it's vector format.
Anyone else notice this new change?

- jethronethro 3y agoDidn't notice and don't really care, to be honest. It's not something that's on my list of what's important about this site. But kudos to YC for doing that.
- beardyw 3y agoIt's a great choice for icons - one size fits all!

- logicalmonster 3y agoFor such a simple logo that can be easily made in plain CSS, is there any practical advantage to actually making it an SVG or image file rather than a few lines of CSS?
- solumunus 3y agoI guess it needs to be a favicon which can’t be done in CSS so you may as well not use CSS for it anywhere.
