Haven't used either in 15 years, but I always preferred the bat! back in the day, client was faster and was bullet proof, also at the time it did a better job handling vCards. Both had irregularities with rich format rendering, but that was a symptom of the time and the fragmented closed sourced rendering engines. I moved to Opera's M2 client as soon as it became available and it was my preference even though it only supported plaintext.
