Yeah mostly for Americans who have a puritan belief that everyone should be perfect in every way.
Meanwhile most people know a lot of successful celebs, artists, entrepreneurs are pretty insane, but that’s why they got where they are.
You don’t get innovation and development without crazy people.
- johnnyworker 3y agoNot crazy as in wacky and creative, more crazy as in NPD or sociopathy. You can be creative and driven and wacky without believing falsehoods 5 minutes of reading or even just observation plus a modicum of intellectual honesty could correct, such as that nonsense about billionaires. And surely without trying to swat whistleblowers [0] or firing engineers for correcting things you made up [1]. That's not at all how so many well known and very successful people behave, actually. That's not what leaders do, either. That's what sick people can't help but do. History in the long run doesn't care about how successful "celebrities" were for themselves, but whether they gave more than they took. - johnnyworker 3y agoI'm sorry you don't understand that Musk without stunted personality growth could have achieved even more.
- Joker_vD 3y ago> Where would electrification be right now without Tesla? Almost exactly where it is. It's not like, e.g., GOELRO was inspired or helped by Tesla in any way.
- llamaimperative 3y ago“It’s bad to call rescue workers pedophiles” is not a puritanical belief. “It’s bad to promise and sell technology that does not exist” is not a puritanical belief. “It’s bad to buy a company and then attempt to renege on its obligations to employees and service providers” is not a puritanical belief. These aren’t fringe beliefs whatsoever.
- zpeti 3y agoI didn’t say fringe. I said puritanical. In the US puritanism is mainstream. Next you’re in europe check out our attitude to nipples. Or people saying offensive things (non UK). I’ll grant you one thing, Europeans also hate billionaires. I guess that’s just the natural envy in every human being.
- pfannkuchen 3y agoHow would you recommend sampling a place’s attitude to nipples?
- nativeit 3y agoEnthusiastically.
- JohnFen 3y ago> I guess that’s just the natural envy in every human being. The resentment toward the very wealthy isn't generally because of envy at all. It's what happens when people use their wealth and power in a way that harms others.
- zpeti 3y agoMusk is one of the last people you should think that of. Jamie Dimon - yeah sure. Musk? Really? Why? Probably because he takes a political stance? Funnily enough so does bezos and Zuckerberg but on the other side. But I don’t see how musks contribution to society is a net negative.
- rmilejczz 3y agoWtf do you think a puritan is? This comment makes me want to rip my hair out
