If a company truly valued their customers privacy, they wouldn’t collect the information or provide the capacity to do so.
Any organization who says they “value customer privacy” while collecting data is lying or profoundly clueless.
- kramerger 3y agoThis is the right answer. Data is a liability. Gathering it costs money, storing it and protecting it costs money and if you leak it GDPR will make sure it costs you even more money. Hence if you see someone actively or passively collect your data chances are they are selling it to everyone who asks
- happytiger 3y agoExactly. You put it absolutely perfectly.
- sparrowInHand 3y agoThe more intersting thing is - why not have the queries run on the car as aggregator/filters and only send query meta data home? Why does it have to be rawall?
- sokoloff 3y agoIf I pre-filter the data and collect only the answers to questions I’ve already thought to ask about, I can't come back and ask different questions of the data and get those questions answered against the historical dataset. (I'm arguing for why they might choose to do it this way, not arguing that that's the best balance point for the system. I'm sure that laziness has a factor here as well, as "ship it all to the data warehouse and we'll figure it out later" has a certain appeal in project timelines and is often the default stance.)
