It isn't. There is UK comic[1] and an unrelated US comic[2] that bizarrely began publication on the same day in 1951. Both have been made into TV and movies. T

The person writing this was likely referring to the US character.

- jjgreen 3y agoWild, thanks for that. I see the US version's dog is not called Gnasher (only known example of an Abyssinian wire-haired tripe hound).
