I'm sort of shocked to find out that these are ordinary rental apartments. They are at market prices, too. I could have sworn that they were designed to be "tiny houses" that sold for, like, $100k? But perhaps I was misinformed and confused with something planned for another area.
My friend did a lot of art for this place.
California is doing some zero-parking-space development, too, and my parents are grousing about that. I mean, it's sort of a dramatic difference: you've got one space per bedroom next door, and then zero spaces. We'll see how it plays out, and whether Culdesac residents impose on neighbors' parking lots.
This is really ambitious, to be so self-contained, and there are a lot of significant businesses invested in space here. You've got a restaurant, a bike repair, the grocery store. Are they subsidized by the landlord? What if they are shuttered, what do you tell the residents?
