I think it could be fun to work these types of jobs if part-time was acceptable. Part-time would be ideal to give some time to recuperate and avoid accumulating injuries. I once built a house with two friends over a summer, gruelling work (70-80 hours per week) but lots of fun & great learning experience. A month in I had a major flare up of RSI in both wrists and had to take two weeks off to get it back under control (with the help of ibuprofen to reduce inflammation & on advice of my doctor), and then I wore wrist braces on the construction site after that. If it had been an actual job then I imagine there would've been more pressure to not take that time off to recuperate, leading to longer term damage.
