The main prob is info overload. Even the spammers will say they have to up their spam volumes every day to get fewer and fewer clicks. But the good news for them is cost to constantly broadast has fallen to near 0. Youtube , Insta, FB (or even HN) wont tell you less than 1-5% of content generated is actually consummed. That stat comes from economists studying the effeciency of the info economy. If you hand everyone a radio station and dont restrict spectrum use and everyone starts broadcasting 24*7 what happens? Thanks to that probpem we get Claude Shannon and rules of Spectrum use. But we havent found a Shannon's theory of information yet or spectrum sharing rules, when it comes to internet broadcasting. So we see the same issues people had when the age of wireless broadcasting began. They too responded by providing solutions to evrything under the sun other than info overload. Without Shannon & Co showing up god knows how long it would havd taken to solve the issue.
