Your mistake is assuming that a power hungry politician is operating under good intentions.
- lern_too_spel 3y agoHow does the bill let Warren and Graham say what to censor and change? The bill says that social media companies have to clearly explain their moderation policies and disallows them from using algorithms to hurt their users. There are problems with the bill, but none of the problems have anything to do with telling people what to censor.
- lockhouse 3y agoNot them specifically, but those who are really behind the bill. This is just another attempt at the Ministry of Truth they so desperately want. They called it the “Disinformation Governance Board” last time they tried this… https://www.newsweek.com/joe-bidens-disinformation-board-likened-orwells-ministry-truth-1702190 https://www.newsweek.com/joe-bidens-disinformation-board-lik...
- lern_too_spel 3y agoThere was no last time they tried this. The DGB does something entirely different from what this bill does. It watches over the government, while this bill says that private companies must state their rules clearly.
