What is the simplest hash algorithm to understand conceptually/mathematically?
The equivalent of XOR with a one time pad level of math, or a replacement scheme for encryption?
(In other words, doesn't have to be secure, but covers the concept)
- fluoridation 3y agoThe first thing that comes to mind is adding all the characters in the input. It's easy to understand how if the values for two inputs are different then necessarily the two inputs are different.
- pestatije 3y agoin some cases the identity hash(tat is, no hash) is good enough, eg. integers, fixed-length strings, etc
