Twitter's giant glowing X was put up without a permit, say SF officials
- anigbrowl 3y agoThe strobing light really has to be seen to be believed. I doubt the people in the apartment building directly across the street have had any proper sleep since last week.
- teachrdan 3y agoI've read a lot about how Elon Musk supposedly wanted to have a(nother) company called "X" for decades now. How can that be true when he did not appear to have a logo ready to replace the Twitter bird?
- anonymousab 3y agoHe didn't think about the details that deeply and the sudden move was a spur of the moment decision, unknown and unexpected by any designers Musk actually works with. A more charitable idea might be that any old logo idea might quickly become outdated, so it makes more sense to commission something from the best of the best, with your massive wealth, just in time when you need it.
- thefurdrake 3y agoYeah, one might almost think that Elon Musk is an impulsive man with little focus whose course of action changes on the drop of a hat. Almost. Anyway, it's not "supposedly", I thought there was some pretty convincing that the man wants an "X" product already. He literally used x.com commercially in the past, before paypal. One of the main models of Tesla cars is X. His most-successful business literally has the letter X at the end of the name. The man's obsessed with the letter X, which is sad, because it's my favorite letter, too, and I don't wanna share it with him.
- 2Gkashmiri 3y agowhy do you need city municipal approval to install a sign on your own building? even if rented, even if owned, why? just why?
- ido 3y agoHave you seen a video of this sign? It’s glowing and flickering a harsh white and is situated exactly opposite a tall apartment building.
- rsynnott 3y agoQuite right. Now that he’s had to take them down off the office, Elon will be around to set up his strobe lights outside your bedroom tomorrow.
- maxerickson 3y agoBecause that is what a municipality is! It's kind of the whole point that you are agreeing to share the space you are in. If you don't want to share, go occupy an incorporated chunk of land.
- ModernMech 3y agoBecause when people took it upon themselves, they apparently secured it with sandbags, creating a serious hazards in high wind conditions.
