I stopped booking hotels years ago after this happened: I booked on a website advertising a room weeks in advance for $130 a night (only one night). Arrived at the hotel, and sure enough, I had a reservation - that was not paid for. The company I booked through was charging $130 for them to call the hotel and put my name down on the books. At that point, I checked out and moved to the mountains.
