Yes, Microsoft is fond of alienating its user base, it amazes me how often they do that. I don't plan on using Windows 8, but if I did, I'd probably be alienated just as much as since until now I haven't really used a single touch device. Also, if the users are going to have to simulate touch gestures with a mouse, I foresee an increse in RSI for the next generation.
