it just doesn't make sense to me, because can't you just... go to his twitter scroll down to this tweet? and take a png of it? or just download the webpage and save it somewhere convenient?
- pajko 3y agoHere it is in full glory: https://web.archive.org/web/20081103142857/https://twitter.com/jack/status/20 https://web.archive.org/web/20081103142857/https://twitter.c... Seems like the NFT is fake as it does not contain the original, but a modern reproduction :D
- asadotzler 3y agoYou know those outfits that'll name a star after you for $50, where they just make a note in a database somewhere attaching your name to one of an infinite supply of sky coordinates? That's kinda what an #NFT is.
- dotcoma 3y agoLove how you explain it.
- ChainOfFools 3y agothe money behind this was (and stubbornly remains) convinced that the long game bet would be that with everyone from teenagers to doll collecting Grandmas getting skin in the nft-camouflaged gambling grift game, social conditions would shift to accommodate and even defend a web where you could not simply scroll down and look at his tweet without paying for it. Pervasive DRM implemented down to the wire in everything, backed by "decentralized" blockchain backed by a handful of shady mining operators, pools and exchanges, making a handful of people Bond villain rich and turning them into the very Illuminati the fawning libertarian fringe crowd of crypto-bros is convinced controls everything today. That was the idea.
