I agree idioms aren't going away. I will mention that even ChatGPT-3.5 can help to understand comments like the one at the top of this thread[0], which seems like a boon for non-native English speakers. ChatGPT-4 is obviously even better. (As a native English speaker who knows a decent amount of Spanish, I have also been impressed at how well the various LLMs can do with translation... honestly, substantially better than Google Translate in a lot of cases, in my opinion.)
