EAA Aviation Center: A New Beginning (1983) [pdf]
- app4soft 3y agoThis is an article by Henry M. Ogrodzinski, posted in «Sport Aviation» 32(10) & «Vintage Airplane» 11(11), dedicated to the opening on EAA Aviation Center (aka EAA Aviation Museum[0]) on July 30, 1983. Quote from an article: > As a United States Army Guard raised an American flag on the pole in front of the Aviation Center, Bob Collins[0] informed Paul, and those who had assembled, that the flag was the same one which had draped the coffin of Peter Poberezny, Paul's father. N.B. Peter, Paul's father & Tom's grandfather, born in Terebovlia, a small Ukrainian town in Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine.[1] [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EAA_Aviation_Museum https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EAA_Aviation_Museum [1] https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn [2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Poberezny#Early_life https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Poberezny#Early_life
- app4soft 3y agoUPD: Bob Collins[0] (he done some work for EAA Radio) corrected me: > different Bob Collins. That Bob Collins was later killed in a midair[1] > we were both in the radio business. Both pilots. Both in the Midwest. But he was the famous one.[2] Here is a Bob Collins (broadcaster) mentioned in the article.[3] [0] https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn/110770469781173100 https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn/110770469781173100 [1] https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn/110804927016032553 https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn/110804927016032553 [2] https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn/110805181367391087 https://mstdn.social/@Bcollinsmn/110805181367391087 [3] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Collins_%28broadcaster%29 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Collins_%28broadcaster%29
