GoDaddy suspended our site on Friday evening and doesn't respond back
I run a website whose domain is with GoDaddy. It is used by thousands of stores to take online orders. It was misused by a user for phishing. We banned him, but GoDaddy's compliance team has suspended the website on Friday evening and gone for the weekend. ETA should be less than 24 hours, but their support team is asking me to call on Monday morning. Hundreds of store owners are calling us, saying that they are not able to sell anything at the month-end. Do you know how to expedite the process?
- shrubble 3y agoSadly GoDaddy hasn't been even halfway decent for years. They were hacked and didn't detect it for a long time: https://www.wired.com/story/godaddy-hacked-3-years/ https://www.wired.com/story/godaddy-hacked-3-years/ I would place this company as being in the coast along and extract money from customers phase. It's far cheaper to just turn off a random customer and lose a few dollars than pay for people to investigate things over the weekend, as you are experiencing...

I wish it were easy to hold them liable for damages. If pathetic customer support with a ban before investigating policy started costing $10k+ per mistake, I’m sure they could suddenly “afford” to be less shitty.
- TZubiri 3y agoWhat do you expect for 13$/yr Just pay their premium dns packages and 24/7 support packages.

- jqpabc123 3y agoIt's too late for a short term solution but long term --- friends don't let friends do GoDaddy.
- magic_man 3y agoWho exactly do you trust. Seems like none of the big tech companies provide much customer service
- donmcronald 3y agoICANN bending the knee to registry owners doesn’t help. On a whim, discretionary banning shouldn’t be a thing. At the very least I should be able to pre-pay for some type of guaranteed, impartial arbitration before my domain gets banned.
- ipaddr 3y agoI'm shocked people purchase services from bigtech companies. I understand advertising works but would you buy a service from a local company who is known to damage your property and gives you no way to contact them when they screwup. People keep doing it with bigtech. People buy Oracle or IBM for similiar reasons and outcomes.
- lijok 3y agoAWS has absolutely superb customer service. Cloudflare is also great, but their policies are shody

- genmud 3y agoCall the abuse department, not sure if they still are like they used to be, but they used to be 24/7 and would actually pick up the phone, 480-624-2505.

- ttoinou 3y agoNever got support email from GoDaddy. Never buy from them. They take your money and disappear
- KomoD 3y ago> Do you know how to expedite the process? Yes, go to sleep and wake up when it's Monday. They won't come back on the weekend for you unless you're a big customer (which you probably aren't, considering they suspended it without warning and are telling you to call back on Monday)
