Chlorogenic acid is the real MVP in coffee.
- moritzwarhier 3y agoI think you mean USP, or even something that's not at all related to monetization and/or startups
- x86x87 3y agoMVP as in sports :)
- moritzwarhier 3y agoAh, sorry and thanks :) Snarky comments are not only against HN guidelines, they're also very dangerous as a non-native speaker
- DangitBobby 3y agoIt wasn't a snarky comment, MVP was being used as an idiom meaning "the most important thing" which is a very common usage. I can understand your frustration with not understanding some idioms but they aren't going away, people like to express themselves creatively.
- moritzwarhier 3y agoI was referring to my own comment when I said "snarky", am glad to have learned the idiom :)
- coder543 3y agoI agree idioms aren't going away. I will mention that even ChatGPT-3.5 can help to understand comments like the one at the top of this thread[0], which seems like a boon for non-native English speakers. ChatGPT-4 is obviously even better. (As a native English speaker who knows a decent amount of Spanish, I have also been impressed at how well the various LLMs can do with translation... honestly, substantially better than Google Translate in a lot of cases, in my opinion.) - x86x87 3y agoYeah. No snark here. Unfortunately sometimes there are a lot of sports metaphors leaking in the common language (and war metaphors btw). Yes it can be annoying

- satvikpendem 3y agoIt's a meme, MVP in this case means "most valuable player" but it's used more generally: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/kevin-durant-mvp-speech https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/kevin-durant-mvp-speec...
