Facebook’s Algorithm Is ‘Influential’ but Doesn’t Necessarily Change Beliefs

- RetroTechie 3y agoCorrelation != causuation? Anyway: only a tiny bit of tilting the playfield suffices to change outcomes. The more subtle, the 'better'. See eg. how evolutionary fitness affects the spread of mutations. In short: given enough time, only a minor difference can be enough to completely replace variant X with variant Y in a population. I wouldn't be surprised if on social media, small nudges for 'political correctness' or whatever, can have similar (big) effect. Just give it time for nudging to work its magic. ;-) Never mind not-so-subtle tweaking.
