Nowadays, it seems that "genius" advancements are increasingely narrow in their fields, "genius" breakthroughs require increasing amount of financial resoures and require much more knowledge of the current state. And problem is further increased by businessmen investing into marketing to appear as geniuses to inflate their companies valuation - in my mind that's Elon Musk. So we are no longer seeing "genuine" excess genius.
