Internet Provider Must Pay $47M Bond to Appeal Piracy Liability Judgment
- throwaway290 3y agoHow did Riaa and friends find out that specific people were "infringing" and those same people were not disconnected by ISP? Unless they actually planted those people?
- porkbeer 3y agoMore industry extortion. Some bored fellow needs to do a deep dive and help dismantle this machine that destroys artists and fans alike.
- zug_zug 3y agoThis is a ludicrous judgement. The notion that somehow an ISP caused $47million in actual damage (i.e. prevented 47 million dollars of music being bought) is wrong by a factor of hundreds at least, particularly in the era of spotify. It's becoming increasing clear that certain aspects of our justice system aren't working in modern society (EULA, court as only recourse, asymmetry of consequences) and I think the first step to fixing it us enough people repeating it to get it into the overton window.
