Annecdotal evidence: on a recently-launched YouTube channel (10k+ views so far) we have 40% of the views with English subtitles. 58% use no subtitles. 30-ish % of views come from English speaking countries. (We manually upload subtitles.)
However, I would very much appreciate being able to upload a second audio track instead of AI generated dubbing.
- semi 3y agoI saw a video on coffee tasting that had a second audio track without slurping sounds. so I don't know how widely available the feature is but YouTube does have some version of uploading alternative audio tracks
