Is there a better algorithm than the 0 and 1 algorithm [for processor]
I know how processors work but I still wanted to ask if there is something better to use other than 0s and 1s.
- orbz 3y agoAs with all things, it depends on your use case. Ternary (base 3) processors exist and in many cases can optimize some logic. Quantum computers use qubits. Similarly there are analog computers that use continuous signals instead of binary values.
- uberman 3y agoDNA encodes with 4 bases. Not sure that makes it better or not, just noting something that works on a massive scale that is not directly binary

- fancyfredbot 3y agoAs explained in this video, 0 and 1 are an inelegant hack, and IEEE NaN is far superior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TFDG-y-EHs&t=1s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TFDG-y-EHs&t=1s
