This is an excellent use of the technology. It would be their familiar voice, but also input would be a whole lot easier. I think this is the kind of thing Jason Becker and his father would really appreciate. Jason has had ALS for decades, and his father created a method for him to communicate, spelling with his eyes. He managed to produce music for a couple of albums with his eyes, too.
