How do we know metamorphosis evolved from a single organism, as opposed to a parasitic relationship (like mind controlling wasps) that developed into these multiple life stages? Has anyone researched the origin?
- koeng 3y agoYou don't even need genetic testing to see holes in that hypothesis (though there is no proof of a parasitic relationship genetically) - it is pretty easy to see phylogenetically the evolution of metamorphosis. Ie, hemimetabolous insects vs homometabolous insects.
